Are all the Boyds the same. GC was a property they bought, not one that was originally theirs. The pays scales still might be different.

Correct, they bought it from Michael Gaughan. Don't know if all the Boyd properties are doing the same thing, her bosses are wanting her to move up but the caveat is she needs to learn craps plus she could be pushed off swing shift which is non-negotiable for her.

Does she think that will be a problem?

Do the casinos here not have training schools on-site? I worked at Foxwoods in CT, and we went through an 8 week dealer school after we were hired. We learned BlackJack, Spanish 21, 3 Card, 4 Card, 5 Card, TH Bonus, Let It Ride, War, Money Wheel, Sic Bo, and Caribbean Stud. After 6 months of dealing, we were allowed to pick up other games after going through the training school for that specific game. I ended up getting certified in Mini Bac, Midi Bac, and Big Bac and was signed up for Pai Gow Poker/Tiles when I ended up getting out of the business. The school was free and if you graduated and passed your audition for each game, you became a dealer.

The school ran every 2 months year-round, as we had 3000 dealers and turnover was pretty high, so every couple of months, 50-100 dealers hit the floor.

Nah, she said if push comes to shove she would just go back to FT dealing. She does have the experience of dealing everything else so that helps and she has the right attitude which sadly a lot of new dealers are missing.

Nope, at least not that I'm aware of knowing. Some houses will provide training in other games once you prove you are proficient in the game you were hired to deal. My wife is having issues with new dealers who claim they can deal games only to find out they know nothing about the rules let alone payouts.

The rules are different casino to casino I've found. Plus the game variations are different here. But I've found it pretty easy to pick them up, but I can see how a dealer who has dealt in other parts of the country may think he knows the game, but may not know the variations that are different here. Pai Gow Poker, for instance, has different House Way and Envy bonuses from casino to casino here.

You're right, I remember Red Rock having the system where you could put a dollar bet on either dealer or player in Pai Gow. The one time I didn't bet the dealer, he got a 7-card straight flush Santa Fe would never invest in the games that Red Rock got into.

So far no one has said anything about poker dealing. When I ask poker dealers about dealing house backed games, they all say they do better dealing poker.

There's a guy I play golf with occasionally. Last year he was dealing BJ P/T at Gold Coast and dealing poker F/T at Aria, he got burned out so he quit Gold Coast. Can't remember how much he made a day though dealing poker.
