Never been to Vegas so trying to know as much as possible before I leave. I'll be staying at Caesars and want to see a show at Mandalay Bay. What is the best bet for not being late for a show. Not sure how long it will take to walk. What does everyone suggest?? How early should I leave our hotel, best way to travel the distance? don't know if I want to spend an hour walking in 117 degree temps. to get to my show and can't chance being late. Help me out people.

Duece bus is another option.

Best way is to have dinner at Mandalay then you are there in plenty of time. If you get stuck in traffic you can eat after the show.
In a pinch you could walk across the street to Harrahs, take the Monorail, get off at MGM, walk across to the Excalibur and take the free tram to Mandalay. This would limit the time out in the sun to some degree.

Caesars is a couple of miles from Mandalay Bay. If you want to make a day of walking the strip it's doable. If you're trying to make a show, and are therefore time constrained, fuggedaboudit.

Go out the back of Caesars past the Forum Shops Valet on Jay Sarno, turn right onto Frank Sinatra, turn left at Twain, go under I-15 and left onto Dean Martin past Tropicana to Right on Connecter RD then right on Hacienda...it takes you straight to Mandalay Bay. You can either park in the garage by THEhotel or go in the main entrance for the Valet.

....Take a cab...it's a six minute ride. Take the strip and it could be 15 minutes to 40 minutes depending.
Walk it and it could take an hour or more...depending on your shape, traffic and your determination to sit in your sweat during the show.

Beware -- distances are VERY deceiving on the Strip. It is common for someone to see a hotel & say "I'll walk; it looks to be only 5 mins or 10 mins away". An hour later... still walking.

I hear that all day!

I have to educate people that most of the hotels are around 40 stories even if they LOOK like 15...Caesars and Bellagio come to mind.

Another thing that throws people is the lack of atmospheric haze.
In more humid cities the haze gives a clue to distance...not here.

Bellagio was explicitly designed to look smaller than it is. For instance, each "window" visible on the fascade of the building is really a cluster of four windows, for four rooms.

Ding Ding! It takes fifteen minutes to just walk off the property. These casinos are huge!

When I read the OP's question, I was thinking "you're planning on WALKiNG from Caesars to Mandalay Bay? Are you out of your mind?"

Yeah, walking the strip is not really a good option if you have to be somewhere on time. Going from CP to MB you would also be hitting the mess around City Center. It adds a good amount of distance and time and a lot of tourists find it confusing.

You could also take the Deuce bus but it is SLOW and not something to use if you have a schedule.
