Funny how the population of the mid west and back east during this time tagged Nevada with the "satins playground" when in reality the money $$ for it was coming from their areas from all of the illegal vices they had and their pension funds lol. Howard Hughes started the corporate America stampede in LV and then it was called Legit because you could buy shares on Wall ST to invest. The only difference now is you are not a target for a hit but the same motto still is in place but on a larger scale.
I read and loved the book Casino about Rosenthal. I also read and enjoyed a book called When the Mob Ran Vegas. I wasn't old enough to really start enjoying Vegas until the late 90s (didn't make my first trip until 2002 when I was 25) so my only experiences in Vegas have been since they tried to Disney-fy the place in the 90s and later started turning it into giant luxury hotels. Don't get me wrong, I still love going to Vegas, but I'm extremely interested in the old Vegas of the 50s and 60s and even 70s when the mob ran things.

I believe Virginia Hill was Bugsy Siegal's girlfriend.

Geri McGee was Rosenthal's wife.

Hi The culture of the 30,40,50 still lives on in Las Vegas you just have to find it. I started taking Lindy and Swing dance lessons and believe it or not there are places that still have this. The folks who do this are a vast age group from seniors to 21 yrs old. The venues are all over the place but one that has it every Friday night is the Aruba Hotel on Las Vegas Blvd past the Stratosphere going north and right next to the Elvis wedding chapel. Most of the people who show up to dance are dressed up to this era and they do kno how to dance. The Aruba has many of the old pictures from this era on the walls and the place is still original but in a seedy part of town. I also went to the Italian American club on E.Sahara Ave and that is another place all re done with the old original stuff and real Italian food and real Vegas style service. This is where Sanatra and the boys hung out when they were here in Vegas. The bands I have heard are the Speak Easy Swingers W/Jeannie Brei Art Vergas W/Laura Schaffer and Etc. The old Lounge acts is still alive and well and we need more of this in LV plus The House of Blues has been doing some of this. So if you are looking for more than just landmarks but want to experience some of the culture for your self try some of this.

Here are the addresses of the homes around the Las Vegas National Golf course area on Desert Inn of the past famous people who use to live in them or use them. Some real old vintage homes and neighborhoods where this was the place to live in the 50's60's and early 70's. I do not know which side of the golf course all of these places are but if you use your GPS I am sure you find them. The majority of the addresses on this list are in Paradise Palms, 89169. A planned community built mainly by Palmer and Kreisler. I tried like a demon to buy a house there, even bid on properties sight unseen. But it was not to be. And twice my cash offer was refused even though it was higher than the 'winning' bid. I will never understand that one. I even tried to get one property at auction. It was pretty torn up and it had been used as a drug house. I researched this area to death. If you don't know this area, go look and drive around aimlessly for a while. It's worth the trip.

Anyway, I am hoping someone out there remembers this one. At one time a casino owned a property they used to house some of their big stars while they were performing here. I know Elvis stayed there and I have a picture of me sitting on his toilet. No, I'm not using the toilet, just sitting on it! Anyway it was on the market and it was a cool property. But for the life of me I can't remember where it was. Many famous people stayed there! Anyone know?

Are you saying that these houses can only be sold to certain people?
