No, the Bently is sooooo much more practical. Besides, how many $300k convertibles can drive in the snow?

If you need a change of pace, Las Vegas is it! Despite all of the posts on here, winters are mild. I don't think you'd have trouble finding jobs in Las Vegas, but you'd definitely have to wait until you moved here before trying to get hired anywhere so make sure you have some $ saved. As far as pay, there are many high-end salons and restaurants here, so there is the potential to make a good living. And there's tons of stuff to do for people in their 20s -- in fact the whole entertainment and nightlife scene is geared toward people in their 20s/30s. Good luck in making your decision!

My suggestion to OP...make a couple of fact-finding visits at different times of the year to see for yourself. Since weather was your top priority...I would be sure to visit in July/August (dead of summer), January (dead of winter) and then maybe the beginning of April, when you can catch the desert in bloom (Valley of Fire SP is a nice place to catch that.) While you're there, you can also check out the other important resident stuff. And one further recommendation...stay out of the casinos and where the tourists go when you come for those visits. Since you're looking to become a local there, you should check out how the residents (not tourists) live. At least for one of the weeks.

You won't have any problem getting a job. Most of the hairdressers that I know rent chair space in places like Euphoria. If you are any good you'll build a following pretty fast. And if what my wife spends on her hair is any indication you'll make lots of money. New salons are opening every day it seems.

What kind of restaurant does he manage? Fine dining may take a very good resume and lots of experience to get a job, not to mention being in the right place at the right time. But it can pay six figures. It might also take greasing a few wheels though. Many high paying jobs in Las Vegas were purchased from high ranking casino executives. Fast food restaurant manager jobs are easy to get as new ones spring up overnight like mushrooms. Jack in the Box, for instance, starts managers at around $30,000 plus. With lots of experience, education, etc., they will start you at close to $50,000. After a while some of them manage more than one location and make much more.

Yes it can get down to freezing here, but that happens late at night for about an hour around sunrise. So if you get in late or up early it might be sort of chilly. Most of the time our winters are mild compared to the freezing as*ed cold you have in New York.

At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, if you are in your twenties you may be more vulnerable to being dazzled by the nightlife. There is lots to enjoy here but the fun can take over your good sense if you let it. Also, although most of us are nice people, there is an element that will take advantage of you. Don't believe anyone who brags about how important they are. If they really are important they don't want everyone asking for favors so they won't brag about it. But don't be surprised if you find yourself doing the hair of some big Hollyweird star.

Did he tell you that it was all melted off by noon? I have my doubts about that last pic being in Las Vegas. We haven't had snow like that since 1973.

Moved here from NYC 8 months ago and love it. Don't think you'll have trouble finding work in both your industries. The weather's great except for summer but still better than gray, snow, sleeting, rainy crap. Different culture here. Lot's to do but not the same vibe as NYC. If you like outdoor recreation than big plus.
