I don't have a problem with things eating other things as one step outside will reveal this is how life operates. What you refer to and what is despicable is the manner in which the animals are treated and the distance the consumer has from the meat they simply stroll into a store and buy. If people had to actually tour those facilities AND kill their own food, we would likely have a more balanced demand for meat which wouldn't necessitate factory farming.

Humans are predators. We evolved that way. it will never change. There were proto-human species that were herbivores (aka, prey animals) they didn't survive. It was the predatory line that survived.

I'm with von - he was here 1st. If you purchased a home KNOWING the pig farm was in your neighborhood & now want to change it, too bad so sad.

Do I want to live next to a dairy or a pig farm? No way, that's why I found a home away from those types of things. Do your homework when purchasing/renting a home.

Here they go again read the article and post your opinion. I wonder if we should move the airport also because of the noise? Does anyone have a time history about this article?
It was on the front page of the LA Times a few days back.

Pig farm in N. Las Vegas fights on-funny-venus-fly-trap-plant-eat
Vegetarian arguments are a little invalid - I don't hate their ideals, just don't understand why they seem to think that a wolf dragging down an elk and begin eating it while it's alive is okay, but putting down a cow and eating it is wrong.

I do agree that he was there first and he has rights, however he cant expect to live up there all on his own. Cities grow. He can be offered money and decline it and residents will complain. Eventually the residents will win. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but they will win. And its not so much the farm, its the rusted out vehicles and garbage that surrounds the property thats an eyesore. And Im not a big consumer of factory farmed meat, and his farm has nothing on North Carolina farms, but I dont think the quality of meat he is putting out could be all the great if the pigs are eating sludge which would include other pork products.

I'm kinda grossed out by your last sentence. I was going to counter by saying chickens eat whatever they want as well, but pigs eating other pork products refutes my thought. Ewww.
