My wife and I are retired, currently living in NE Florida. We'd like to relocate to Las Vegas and are looking in a neighborhood bordered by Palmyra Ave on the north, W. Desert Inn Rd. on the south, El Camino Rd. on the east, and S. Toney Pines Dr. on the west. It looks pretty nice on paper, but are there any issues in that general area we might be missing? Thanks for any responses in advance.

3 of the roads, Palmyra, El Camino and Torrey Pines (not Toney) run parallel to each other, so not sure your intended border, but it seems you are choosing to search in a fairly specific (and small) area.
Any particular reason?

Not a very desirable neighborhood. Have you considered a few miles west? The Lakes subdivision is much nicer IMO.

Sorry about the typo on S. Torrey Pines (which runs N/S), along with El Camino (also N/S). On my map, W Desert Inn Rd and Palmyra Av run E/W. Anyway, I'm not looking in that area alone, but I found a house within those border streets that meets my wants and needs, and from the satellite view the neighborhood looks well established and maintained. Basically, I'm looking for a single story home, 3500 sq ft or larger, 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms (minimum), pool, minimum 3-car garage, and space to park a 45' motorhome. I specifically do not want a home on a golf course or in a development with an HOA. A secure environment is a necessity. I'm shopping in the $350k-$700K but would go higher for the right house.

Section 4 or Section 10 if you want a well established urban neighborhood. Any of the RNPs...the biggest being in Lone Mountain with others in the SW. You tend to find the large sprawling single stories in these areas. In those areas many if not most places meet your needs including the 45 foot RV.

When you search look for equestrian properties or zoning. Code for 1/2 acre and bigger.

Thanks for your comments. We need a single story primarily because of my wife's arthritis. We would look at a two story home if it had an elevator, but that seems more common in Florida than Las Vegas.
