Wanting to compile a list of places to go for NYE. I want to do something fun but not have to pay 200 for entry.

What are some good places to grab drinks, relax, and wait on the fireworks? Any reccs? Or even outdoors away from the strip that have awesome vantage points for fireworks

on NYE YES.....it keeps the panhandlers out on the strip and the Entertanment is GREAT......unlike the Strip where the eentertainment IS the strip.....and it also keeps the crowds down to only about 5 people per Sq Ft.

I have heard ads on the radio that sound as if it might be nice to go out to Lake Las Vegas for the evening. There are quite a few nice restaurants out there, should be some bands and they are saying fireworks. Also heard something about ice skating but surely the lake isn't frozen.

Are the casino bars/lounges all closed for private/paid entry parties NYE? I know the bigger clubs will. But your basic casino has so many restaurants and bars, I have to think some will still be operating on a walk in - buy a drink basis. If you can find one of these, park yourself there.
