I'd like to install a lot of utility cabinets in my garage. How many is a lot? Around 30-50. My plan is to ring the garage with cabinets at the ceiling, and then line one wall with base units and slap another counter on top of those.

Searches of craigslist yield one or two at a time. The Habitat for Humanity reStore also has them, but you have to be there at the right time otherwise it's a hodge-podge of different cabinets. (I don't care what they look like, but I would like them all to be the same. I don't want "Frankengarage.") And they won't call you when they get a shipment of what you're looking for. You have to go there every day and hope to get lucky.

Anyone know a better source?

As a last resort, I am more than capable of building my own cabinets. But used cabinets cost a lot less than I'd pay just for the wood to make new ones. That's why I want to go used here. It's just for storing tools and supplies in the garage. I need to take back some space.

My folks purchased from lasvegascabinets.com: The Leading Cabinets Site on the Net . They are here in town and I was impressed with the quality, especially for the price.

Might be overkill for a garage.

Definitely overkill for a garage.

I'm hoping that I can catch a break with someone replacing all the cabinets in a large kitchen. Worst case scenario, I keep going to the reStore, where they go for about $20 per unit.

Yes, I am looking for source for cabinets that are reasonable. (for kitchen not garage), so if anyone has any sources, Please tell us. Scoop, I think for what you want to do in garage, that craigs list and Habitat is best source. Something to consider for you to do. As most used kitchen cabinets are those builder oak cabinets that are similar in style. You could buy like 3 or 4 different lots , and then spray paint them a uniform color with several coats of poly on top. ( if you have a paint sprayer. Will hardly notice they do not all match. A little more work, but they will look more uniform.

Whoops.. That link was wrong.

It was supposed to be Lasvegas Discount Kitchen Cabinets:: Kitchen and Bath Cabinets Nevada NV not .com. They are in town and called Lily Ann Cabinets.

That's the plan. Yes, I have a sprayer.

I went to the reStore yesterday, and wasn't impressed by the quality, selection OR price. They're now charging $50 for cabinets that look like they were simply ripped out, rather than removed properly.

I think my best bet will probably be craigslist.

But if anyone has a neighbor who puts a bunch of oak cabinets by the curb, I'd really like to know about that. Hint. Hint.

Just a thought. We have found one REstore much much different than another. So you might widen your searches of REstores. We have one that is basically a lot of new stuff or newer that didn't work out for one reason or another, overruns, charitable donations. And nearby are the stores that sell the interesting useful stuff. A few hours away is one that's a giant warehouse of wonderful actual antique windows and doors etc and tons of other useful stuff...but at low REstore prices. You might also try any big builder in the area who might have some in a warehouse because he went bust.

Are building (remodeling) permits pubic record in LV? If so, you could contact individuals who were recently issued permits for kitchen remodeling and go from there. You'd have to move quick since in a kitchen remodel the old cabinets are about the first thing to go.

LOL ... you said 'pubic'.

Reminds me of the old Macintosh Jr. parody on SNL years ago. Anyone remember it?

"Visiting the pubic library."
'It said public. I changed it.'

Here's a link below for those who haven't seen it ... absolutely hilarious:

MacIntosh Jr, The power to CRUSH the other kids - SNL skit
