Hey Jjameson...I'm the out-of-towner from South Nellis, LOL...I agree the buffets on the Strip are more in cost but the lineups are ridonkulous and when we were tourists there at Christmas we usually just went to Tony Romas on Fremont for the 25th. Come the 26th all were the same price. What I meant was hotel rooms were cheaper For example, if you look this holiday season a Harrahs Classic Room is $30 for the 24, $70 for the 25th, and then it skyrockets to $250 for the 30 and $270 for the 31st. It was always so cheap in the 80's and 90's for the 23/24/25/26. Now I stick to the Station buffets if I feel like oinking out so I can't comment on Strip buffets.

I have been here as a tourist during just about every conceivable holiday, and things being closed isn't an issue.

Shopping at Fashion Show Mall & walking around the other hotels

1. Aria buffet is the best in my opinion, followed by MGM
2. Go to the SOUTH outlet mall, much more selection and good prices. Got shorts for $5, shoes for $10
3. I actually prefer fremont to the Strip, just my .02

Thanks, I want to venture more off the strip like never before whn I went to Vegas. I'll check out that SOUTH outlet mall for sure. I'm going starting the day after Christmas, so I guess I'll be "fighting" the massive crowds at these shopping malls. Ugh!

Besides Red Rock, Summerlin is like most nice neighborhoods. Same strip malls...If I were just coming to LV for a couple days, I wouldn't go out of my way to do that. Too many other touristy things to see first. Red Rock is nice though.

We went down last year for Christmas and New Years. Went to the north outlet malls on Boxing Day. I like them the best. I think its because I like being outside.

Told the kids not to expect too much, there is no real Boxing Day shopping in Vegas.
I ended up dropping the wife and the kids off at the mall, drove around for 90 minutes looking for a parking spot. Then once my wife was done, she came out and got in the jeep and drove around for a bit so I could go shopping.

Oops.
