Hubby wanted some ribs last night so we headed over to the North Forty on Centennial. All closed up and the phone has been disconnected.

Back in 2009 and 2010, that happened to so many restaurants that my friends and I ( total lunch hounds) took to calling places before we drove over there.

ribs just seem like a loosing proposition out here in the western part of the usa... I mean we all love ribs and Memphis style, but as a business model they just do not seem to fly.

that being said, if you lived in the south... surely you could survive on indirect heat cooking.

I planned to try it out next week, shoot!

I also found out my favorite pizza joint Spaghetti and Co. bit the dust on Aug. 8, very sad!

My favorite BBQ joint is Buzz BBQ located on Tenaya, followed by Lucille's in the district.

That sucks about Spaghetti & Company. I ordered from them a couple of times based on a recommendation from this board and enjoyed the pizza a lot.

We went about 9 months ago and it was eerily quiet in there. The kind of quiet where it feels awkward to have a conversation in a normal tone of voice. It was pretty obviously on the way out already. Sad. Honestly, the food wasn't great though. It was OK, but not great.

Memphis BBQ on Craig and LVB right outside of the base is always rockin' and delicious. A favorite of the Nellis employees and they support the base all the time. Great BBQ at a reasonable price too. I think they have one more location but I dont feel like googling it.

I think the place was mismanaged. They took away the live music, then the dance floor. They added more dining tables where the dance floor was and it just was not an atmosphere conducive to dining. Service was on the decline too and once a place starts down the groupon road, watch out. It will probably reincarnate itself as a Mexican or Asian place. Not to worry,we still have a few restaurants left to choose from.

I heard someone broke a tooth on a rib, and sued them.

I hate to tell you this, but I really believe that true South Texas Mesquite BBQ puts Memphis BBQ to shame. That said, we don't have a lot of BBQ in Las Vegas for some reason, and for several years our best was called Memphis BBQ. They had three locations, but I don't know if any are still open though. The one on Rainbow or Decatur (I forget which it was) has closed. We have never had any real Texas BBQ although a couple of places have claimed to be. They weren't and they didn't last. Buzz BBQ is excellent, maybe the best in town IMO. But now we've discovered The Road Kill Grill at John Mull's Meats on Thom Blvd. It's a fun place. Like going to an old fashioned joint in Houston or Memphis or KC. You can eat outside on picnic tables, but it's mostly take away.
