The official fireworks, yes. But the amateur pyromaniacs put on quite a show in my area on July 4. Thousands of people park near my house to watch the show.

I actually prefer July 4 to New Years.

Although fireworks are illegal, except for the safe stuff sold on every corner by Boy Scouts and religious groups, they would have to put nearly every man, woman, and child in jail on the 4th of July if they enforced it.

They will stop cars they spot coming out of the fireworks stores in Pahrump once they cross over into Clark County. It is my understanding that they send spies from Metro to Nye County to watch for them, but since I never buy any I can't say from experience it's true. If not mistaken, at the Paiute fireworks store on I-15 North, they won't let you take them away. I understand you have to set them off right there on the Rez. But again, I never buy them. Not worried about the law so much as just too cheap, and don't want to be bothered.

Where's a good place to watch the fireworks if I live in Spring Valley?

Me too. Not as cold. And it starts at dusk instead of midnight.

Probably the roof of your house. Take a firehose up there with you just in case the illegal stuff falls on your roof.

Last year was hilarious. I actually followed the law and bought some of the legal ones and set them off. Some old lady in an apartment across the courtyard came out yelling at me and said she was calling the cops (who never came). On the other side of the complex people were setting off professional size fireworks with detonators and everything. Sparks were reigning down all over the trees and buildings...

I wish they would make the sale of fireworks illegal in LV. People consistently abuse the rules. They will buy the illegal type fireworks, start using them a few days after and before the 4th, and on the 4th it's an all night event with heavy smog until the next morning and not to mention the lack of sleep for many trash all around and pets getting lost.
The rules call for the fireworks to go off a bit after sunset and stop a bit after that! That is it! Really, why should we even have all this BS?

I am all for organized fireworks on the strip and local casinos and municipalities but to have them in the neighborhoods with all the yahoos going wild is really uncalled for and its time it become complete ILLEGAL!
