I am coming to Vegas in June to find a safe apt. semi close to UNLV. I would like to call a Property Management company to set up appts. to see some apartments. Would this be my best option? If so does anyone have any suggestions for a reputable Property Management company? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Safe? Perhaps "semi safe" would best describe an apt. "semi close" to UNLV...

From 2006 to 2011, Las Vegas police investigated a homicide every 2.8 days on average.

Yeah but that's not any worse and a lot better than some places in the US....

Take Salt Lake City...They seem to be always way aboce the National avergae for homicides....

Unfortunately, the area directly surrounding UNLV is one of the highest crime zip codes in the Vegas Valley. Do you have a car?

Vegas isn't "big". I don't know where you're coming from though.

Even from the far west side of the valley, I can get to UNLV in 20min (non-rush hour). Rental prices are pretty high here right now too. It might be better to rent a room in a nice neighborhood.

I live between UNLV and the Strip.

I just walked to the bank from the Casino with $500+ cash at 10PM , crossing the UNLV campus.

It's not bad as people make it seem. Just a lot of people over-Hyping things imo.

Though, I wont lie, it was the emptiest college campus I've ever been on at 9pm at night. BUt then again, the campus is small to me compared to places i"ve been: Clemson / USC / NYU

Been here 4 months and walk mostly everywhere.

I've lived in SC, NYC, Denver, Santa Monica , GA

There's a lot of people making bad decisions to get into drug here. It's something very evident. However, I've never been bothered or even seen a crime in this area.

One night while walking from the Albertson's some guy was running out of a store behind citibank trying to steal something.. security tripped him up, took the goods, and let him go about his business. That was a strange thing to see .

Lots of tourists walk up and down harmon all day and night going to / from the strip or back over here for parties.

Depending on what you're looking to pay, I'd reccomend Americana apartments or the townhouses that are behind it. The townhomes are actually quite nice and great location. Dont know the name.

They aren't luxurious .. .more like 80s stuff that's been well kept..... but you will NOT beat price and location and comfort. Trust, I did all the searching you are about to do.

Seriously, your profile says you are a very big guy. Why would anyone mess with you? I am a little guy, but it would be like me saying I have walked through the worst neighborhoods in Vegas with no problem, while neglecting to say I have a gun strapped on each side of my belt.

LOL hey, some of us live in fear, some of us dont.

You sound scared.

I see senior citizens walking this street daily.. Joggers cutting through back alleys.....

but to each their own, if scared my friend, go elsewhere.

My home before this was downtown Denver, then Santa Monica CA / Venice Beach ... and in South Carolina I still have a 3 story house / lux community.

Scared people, will die 1000 deaths.
