Clark county has some of the lowest rents in the country when compared to other major metros.

Thanks for the 2 above replies, but I was referring to what was shown in ScoopLV's (and others) response to the OP.

Gas is 3.50 for regular, you can buy a dozen eggs for $2.00. We have lots of outlet shopping so plenty of areas to bargain hunt. Rent is cheap. What more would you like to know?

Comparing my costs from 2012, I have reduced my housing but increased my food costs. Overall, pretty much the same.

^this is valuable for me because my wife and I are considering moving to Vegas to retire, though we will be buying a condo outright so we will have no mortgage but some $$$ for condo fees. we also don't eat out a lot so we would likely spend between $600 to $700/month on food. so it looks like $2000/month American would be more than enough?

If you are careful, you will be fine. Save and read the flyers you get every week! The 99centsOnly Store is always my first stop for shopping. I get everything I can there and they save me a ton of money. Next stop is always the Hispanic grocery where meat is usually on sale and they have the best produce for the money. Finally I finish up my list at Smith's.

I would be surprised if you spent $700 a month to feed 2 people. Plus eating out here is very cheap. You will probably eat out more than you think. Sign up for the players card at every casino in your area. Many will send you free or half off food coupons every month. There are always coupons for restaurants in the flyers too.

The COL has to stay cheap here. The casinos and the tourist industry pay nothing and people work hard to get by with 2 or 3 McJobs. If the COL goes up, they lose their workforce.
