Make sure you use any possible discounts (e.g., membership department store like Costco, insurance company, airline frequent flyer program membership). You don't necessarily need a car to get around the Strip or downtown LV. I think parking, at least self-parking, is usually free, though in some cases you can end up having a long walk to the lobby and your room.
Ideally I would be renting a convertible, so I wouldn't want to chance it that a location wouldn't have the car I want. I've driven convertibles for too long now, and I really hate a car with a roof in nice weather! Plus, I'd take a shuttle either way from the airport to my hotel or from the airport to the car rental.

You know how online reviews are, so I was hoping someone here had used Fox personally to see if their experience was as horrific as some are saying.

I know everyone has a different budget, so the hotel rental might not be an affordable option.

But for me, even if it does cost more to rent at the hotel, I don't care. I'm not going to waste any of my vacation chasing after rental cars. I'm always looking for ways to make my life easier, and if it costs a little (or even a lot) more, so be it.

Muonic - to each his own, but I'm wondering have you ever rented a car at LAS since they built the rental car center? The ride over there is about 7 to 8 minutes, and the busses leave about every two minutes.

Yep. I tried it, and didn't like it. There were a lot of people there, and I had to stand in line for quite some time. I just find it easier to rent, and drop off the car, at the hotel. I just make sure to reserve a car at the hotel, and it always seems to go very smoothly. Works for me.

Most have a VIP service ( free, just join each ) that saves standing in line. I have it for Hertz and Thrifty. Works well. Not sure if this Fox has it.

Keys in car or waiting for you.... hardly any wait time.

Ive rented from them In San Jose from the airport. I book the cheapest car (usually 8-11 bucks a day) and more than a few times I get upgraded because they are out of economy cars. I've never had a problem with them and the cars were decent.

I've rented from Fox in LV. and the car was clean and all went well. It wasn't such an inconvenience picking the car up with the two transfers. But, what I didn't like was the place had a smashed up car in the parking lot and they really pushed taking out insurance. I didn't buy the insurance and the whole week I felt paranoid about getting in an accident and getting dragged over the coals by there company. Fortunately, I had no problems with the company....

When I've rented cars (I've always used Enterprise) in the past I have never bought the insurance, and I was told that since I have full coverage on my personal car insurance I was covered. Anyone know if that's true? I might call my insurance agent and ask.

We rented a small car there before to drive to LA (i have a bigass truck.. too much gas)
Service was blaaaah. Upon return we were not the only one they tried to pay for damages on the car that we did not cause.. but have been on there before. They also charged for a full gas tank but we took it over with a quarter. Their excuse was : well you should have inspected it better ... seriously.
