Looking for a hotel that is not like this. I've heard Vegas has changed over the years. My friend was there last year, met a woman (not as escort) and she had to pay an extra person fee to stay with him.

Some hotels don't have this policy, but some do. It was at one of those hotels where a room key is required to even board the elevator. If I want to invite someone over to my room, there should not be an extra fee for that. I understand the economy and unemployment is rampant, but would like to avoid this sort of hotel.

I want to enjoy Vegas, would like to stay on the strip near nightclubs. At the same time, I don't want to stay somewhere with such draconian policies.

What is a good hotel that isn't a virtual "police state"?

when ever you check into a hotel room, you get two keys, even if your a single person.
I have yet to stay in ANY hotel, where I was questioned who I am going to my room with.

Unless your friend WALKED UP TO THE FRONT DESK and said
"She is staying with me tonight, is that ok with you folks"

This should have been a non issue.

Even if she did talk to the front desk, the only hotels that would have a problem are the no-tell Motels near Fremont.
No normal hotel would even DARE question a guest about who else is staying in the room.
Of course if there are like 10 extra people thats different.
But one person??
Never. Especially not in a hotel town like this.
Your friend shoulda used the back seat of his rental car.

Yes...but it's not as good as a woman.

Lots of hotels on the strip. I'd check with a few of the older ones like Riviera or some of the ones in the downtown area. Seems to me that the newer hotels are more strict on these policies than the older ones, just my guess.

As busy and huge as strip hotels are, I find it hard to believe that have any clue who is staying at what room and surely don't have time to worry about an extra person in a room. We booked our room for 2 people, but a thrid friend stayed in our room for 3 nights of the trip. No issues.

IF they wish to have a room key issued to the 'friend' then a name and ID is required.

Four Queens for example is the same rate for one or two people in the room....a 3rd or 4th person is additional.

You can do without the name add on if you use the basic keys [2] HOWEVER is the friend forgets thwe room number [cause she's had sleepovers in so many rooms] she will NOT be allowed into the room

Last year I stayed at the Gold Coast hotel twice and there was a podium by the elevators with a security guard checking for room keys in the evening. I have been to Tunica, MS casinos and have seen security guards also checking for room keys or elevators that you have to put your room key in first to turn the elevator on. This is for your security to prevent the bad guys from crusing the hotel looking for easy pray. I appreciated the extra level of security and I am sure they only do it to prevent a problem.

The Orleans (another Coast property) has also done this, whenever I stayed there. And you're right...very appreciated.
