I've seen how the national weather service warns about protecting exposed pipes, pool equipment and sprinkler systems. Are any of you that have these things doing anything different in the current cold snap?

How likely will you get damage from freezing temps on this equipment?

My solar pool heat on the roof is drained for the winter. I was also told to run my filter during the coldest time of the night to avoid freezing.

run the pool pump at night and you won't have a problem.

talked to a neighbor who complained of bad pipes and a list of plumbing issues.

We haven't had any problems at all. I couldn't help thinking maybe she didn't hear the house to prevent them from freezing. No water softener either, that tore up our sink pipes imo.

I don't worry too much about irrigation pipes, the frost line is pretty much zero. You should wrap any pipes which stick up out of the ground, such as the pipes going to your main anti-siphon/backflow preventer, pipes going to individual anti-siphon valves, and pipes supplying the misting system.

The temperature bottoms out around 6-7AM, so running your pool pump from 4AM-8AM should prevent ice from forming anywhere in the plumbing.
