I heard the same thing on the news that the number of visitors has increased. The visitors are paying more for room rates than they did last year, but are not gambling as much. Visitors are spending their money differently.

VERY true.....the overall average IS down and now its spread out among more hotels....thus the occupancy rate is down .... but the good joints will still survive. the others shouldnt.

There are no naysayers. There are pollyannas and then there are realists. I fall into the realist category.

That's what all negative people claim. It's BS though. Always being negative is not being realistic, it's aberration. And even if it was "realistic" what's the real hidden purpose in imposing your negativity on everyone else? It certainly isn't meant to brighten anyone's day is it?

Trust me, I would absolutely love to say things are getting better and be more optimistic, but I can't. I have studied history, and I can look at what is really going on in this country. I do not know the future, but it is not looking good if you ask me.

With a country that just surpassed 15 trillion in debt, protests and riots everywhere, I would say I am a realist that things are not getting better, regardless of short term economic numbers.

Well here is a new twist to the story. As much as what is made of the Mc Casinos popping up all over the country especially on Indian reservations and etc they are introducing many people to gambling and entertainment. The out come is now these folks want to go to the Gambling Mecca Las Vegas to experience the real big thing. I have encountered folks who normally would not have gone to Las Vegas now wanting to have that experience so this might explain why traffic is up and many are newbies so there spending is a bit down this trip. Not a one who has come back complained and they all plan another trip with more people they know. Their one day trips or weekend get away to the local casinos will be less. All of these people agree Las Vegas is above the other casinos and the locations they are at. So it appears many folks are planning to come out more often hopefully it will induce more growth for Las Vegas and bring the economy back in the right direction. Please do not count out the folks who now see how nice it is to retire to the Las Vegas area from their trips or vacations they have taken. Thanks for keeping us posted on the positive signs that appear Las Vegas needs that.
