Thanks for the feedback everyone. Thankfully, my dogs aren't barkers, and neither is what insurance companies consider a "vicious breed". That being said, the dogs are definitely the main sticking point as far as finding a decent place at a decent price is concerned. Yesterday I got the name of a good, dog-friendly realtor who is hopefully going to help us look at some more places this weekend. If we find something good I'll write about it for future searchers, and if we don't, we'll just keep plugging away

Still makes sense to do your own leg work via Craigslist or wherever, rather than relying on a realtor. You're more motivated to find the right place than your realtor. So hop on CL, find some places that look good, call the numbers and evaluate, and pass the handful of leads on the realtor to do further checking on...

Don't use a realtor. They call a application fee (usually) on the props. You can do cl, just be careful and don't give ss or $ before you find the place

Funny, I rented out our 1300 sq ft 3 bedroom 2 bath house in 89129 next to Summerlin for $950 a month. Fully fenced and took renter with 2 large dogs. PM me (private message) and I will give you name of management company I used. Dog deposit was $200 each, non refundable. (so they had to pay $400 knowing they would not get it back.) In any case, the renters are good, take care of outside (clipping bushes etc.) and we are glad to have them. Hope you find something soon.
