That's a good idea. I have to keep that in mind.

The name of the weekly service from the US Post Office is "Premium Forwarding". See http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usp...eType:embedded

Thanks for the replies, just to clarify... I will setup all my bills to come to my primary home address. I'm not trying to pull some kinda of con. It's just those one off pieces of mail that I don't want to stack up in the mailbox.

The virtual mail and premium forwarding sound like possible options.

I believe you -- but in case someone else reads this thread & thinks they can claim Nevada residency for tax purposes while living in CA -- be forewarned. The Franchise Tax Board has amazing & extraordinary capabilities to ferret out people they think might be tax cheats.

And, tax court is unlike criminal court in that, in essence, you are guilty unless you can prove otherwise.

Bottom line: just don't do it.

The letter carrier takes the mail in the box, leaves a notice for the recipient there is mail at the post office for them, and it's held for some period of time.

Your friend can go online and request the mail be held for them until a given date, and then either pick it up or have it delivered to them.

We should get the post office to hire some of them in the forwarding department.

I tried that once and it was a mess. The Post Office returned mail and I had banks calling that checks were returned and asking if this was a permanent change of address. I never did it again!
