I thought I'd finish the B.S at UNLV because it's 100% free. Then quickly start graduate school and study Policy Making or something of that sort. Then, join the Navy as a Reserve Officer. That's the plan for the next three-five years. But the family issues just popped out of nowhere and now my hands are tied.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. Perhaps you can help direct me on how to get some TA. I don't want to pay back loans. Guess I should look into it myself. I have 3.8 GPA but want to retake the class I got a B in for the 4.0.

What's TA? If you have a 3.8 GPA you can go anywhere and you will get lots of scholarships available. All you need is to plan. Try this: Scholarship Search - Find Scholarships Online Free - Grants, Internships

They charge 15 dollars per school. I hope it helps.

Also, if you want to 'legally' evade paying the loans back, you can look into one of those 'loan forgiveness' programs where you will be working for the government which is not as bad as people might think, at least you will have job security. Also, the military is always taking people and it's the only department that won't have any funding cuts.

At some point gravity takes over T&A.

Personally, I prefer AT&T...you then get all 3! Plus...you get to "reach out and touch 'em."

I went to UNLV. If you have any specific questions about the school, send me a message and I can help you out.

Also, some general points:

-The areas around UNLV are poor and a bit dirty, but they're not terrible. Truthfully, these areas are far better and a lot less scary than the poor areas of DC. Living close to campus wouldn't be my first choice by any stretch, but it's not as bad as some people will make it out to be.

-If you want to live further from campus, look at neighborhoods that have direct bus routes that go near campus (I'm not positive, but I think this would include many neighborhoods along Tropicana and Flamingo).

-I know many people who work full time while attending UNLV (mostly in the casino industry, but some as administrative assistants and the like). It's definitely doable, if that's something you're willing to consider. UNLV has lots of night classes available, and some online classes as well.

Two suggestions:

1) ask some of the UNLV faculty members under whom you would study about how their graduates have placed into graduate schools.

2) ask a few of your favorite graduate schools how a degree from UNLV would be perceived. This question is one where it may be difficult to get an honest answer, but try several ways.

Best of luck to you,

S&M

Ideally, I want go to Depaul because I have a friend who just went there and said it was an amazing experience. Also, the university has some serious scholarships and they're easy to get, at least for me. He said during his six years there he didn't have to pay a penny out of pocket.
