Does this happen in Vegas? I'm talking about an organized workout group? Maybe moms and their kids? Just wondering.

Just be careful of the 1,281 registered sex offender in Las Vegas. This may help decide which parks are actually the safest. A link is provided, which contains addresses on the city stat page, after you type in 'Las Vegas' in the city box. The sexual offender ratio to number of LV residents is 1:425!

Disclaimer...the list is not intended to abuse or harrass these sex offenders, but rather to help guide you to parks where it might be safer. We must protect the rights of these offenders!!!???

I know of a few mom and children groups, mostly they are organized via the internet, and then they schedule a get get together once a week where the mothers can meet each other and the kids can play together. You might want to check out craigslist and see whats going on.

The real issue is the summer heat. I've got some nice parks near me, but in 107 degree temperatures, exercising isn't my idea of fun.

Are there 1281 in Las Vegas or in the metro area? That is less than one percent of the population of Clark County. I'm not defending them, I hate them, and have actually written a book about one incident of a child being raped; but your ratio doesn't seem right. Anyway those are the ones who got caught. There are many many more out there who haven't been caught. The main reason is the kids are afraid to tell. And in my opinion the problem is the same everywhere. Children are vulnerable to all kinds of attacks by anyone larger than them, and that includes other kids. All beings are likely to attack the safest target. I was really surprised to learn that same sex rape of children happens frequently in Muslim countries as well.

Still, we can't live our lives in fear, and it is walking a fine line in the way we teach kids to report incidents. Kids being kids are likely to lie about someone to get them in trouble, but on the other hand they shouldn't have to live with the shame of rape, and shouldn't be afraid to tell the truth.

There are at least two Boys and Girls Clubs in Las Vegas and one in Henderson.

There are membership gyms all over town that are more likely to have something like that but it would be indoors. Aquatic exercise is the big thing now so maybe they have one for parents and kids together.

My daughter takes our 4 year old granddaughter to a community pool where she started getting swimming lessons at 2 years old. They do a lot of swimming together. That might be something for you to do with your kids.

The kids will probably want to play soccer since every kid in Las Vegas is in a league. There are more places to play soccer than there are casinos, churches and schools combined. Drive by just one of these and you'll see about 3,000 kids and 40 games going on at once. (I've told myself a billion times not to exaggerate )

Check out the stats for yourself...they are right here on this site! 1:425 ratio is shown right there in black and white. The area covers 36 different zip codes, and just browsing through the actual zip codes where they are registered shows that they are smattered through those 36 zip codes, possibly some that live right near you.

I don't believe that it includes children as registered offenders. I highly doubt that state and/or FBI regulations would allow children's name and addresses to be released.

Is this a case of 'What happens in Vegas...tries to stay in Vegas????' How come this is kept so quiet and unknown? Everyone knows about the huge number of car thefts...but not the huge ratio of sex offenders?
