To clarify for anyone who may have missed the joke: we don't really have an alien abduction problem.

If you live in Las Vegas, you really must visit Rachel NV once. And it is required by law to buy the mug from the little a-le-inn. I have mine!

It's what keeps the locals safe. Buying that mug is like buying a symbol from Riley Martin.

They are NOT aliens. Google "Collins Elite". The Government and Department of Defense have known for a long time...

I remember him from years ago. Back in the 90's. I have talked to him before several times. Not sure if his head was on there right, but it was interesting.

well, of course it's not a problem because the aliens are nice and always bring you back when they are done with you.

I can attest to that. Of course, it's never fun to be dropped naked in the middle of a national forest somewhere in Nevada.

Default Yeah

Wow, I mean I have no idea how anyone lives in L.A. with $10/hr or less. That seems amazing to me. I found it difficult enough to live there on less than $5,500/month, because the problem is any pretty good to great area of the city just costs a fortune. I lived in Downtown Los Angeles in a studio condo that I owned and it was a sinkhole of money. I saved a ton by moving to Long Beach, basically cut my expenses in half (and own the condo outright with no debt), but even still Los Angeles is ridiculously expensive compared to Las Vegas.

For me it's more about the possible quality of life, or the value for your money. IF Los Angeles was this amazing city with everything just being wonderful, I could tolerate the high cost of living and maybe even also tolerate the hideous taxes (though I doubt it), but it would have to be pretty amazing. Unfortunately, Los Angeles falls short in absolutely every respect besides "has ocean near," which I have seen the ocean about maybe 5 times in 5 years, so I couldn't care less. What first attracted me to Vegas, before I really did my homework and was sold on what a superior city it is, was the value you get for your money. I was looking at my condo in L.A., which was in a nice upscale building but with virtually no amenities besides a lame 3 foot deep pool that closes at 10 p.m., thinking ok so this is what $375,000 buys in L.A. and this place is 920 sq. feet. Then I would look in Vegas and find places for $250,000 that were 1,200 sq., 2 bedrooms, really nice views (my condo has no view of anything), amazing amenities (valet parking, media rooms, gym, etc.), and right next to the most exciting, fun place you can go - The Strip. That is when I started becoming angry and resentful of my living situation and thinking this is absolute BS, I am paying way too much money and getting almost nothing out of it. All for the "privilege" of living in an overcrowded city where the bars close at 2 a.m. if you're lucky and if not anywhere between midnight and 1:30 a.m.

Los Angeles is the most pathetic, boring big city on the face of the planet. I think you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else with such a lack of a nightlife and that many people. The sad, sad college town I went to was more fun to party in than Los Angeles -- at least you didn't spend 2 hours in the car going somewhere and get reamed for $40 in cover charges and parking.
