Thanks everyone.

Yes, we're doing vitamins, etc. Should be a low-risk pregnancy, but we'll get the details at our first doctor's visit (it's still early).

I was looking into midwife options and was informed that there are no birthing centers in LV (or Nevada, for that matter), which means that going with a midwife would either mean a home-birth, which we don't want, or a hospital birth (still expensive) that's attended by a midwife.

Just wondering if anyone had any info or experience with midwifes or non-home non-hospital options in LV. In any event, I'll be getting the full cost details on hospital births this week, and we'll do our first doctor's visit too.

Just to complete this thread in case anyone else is seeking similar information:

Centennial Hills Hospital has a program for self-pay people that's pretty affordable. Here's a link to the program: Las Vegas Women's Health - Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center (http://www.centennialhillshospital.com/Hospital-Services/Womens-Services/Babies-Are-Beautiful - broken link)

I believe Mountain View has essentially the same program, but under a different name: "Precious Steps".

Definitely the way to go if your insurance doesn't cover maternity, you don't qualify for Medicaid, and you're doing a hospital birth.

I would imagine if you talked with a doctors office (if that is the route you wanna choose) they might work out a payment plan?

A side note I had no insurance my last pregnancy and didn't get insurance till I was over 5mo and had a hard time finding a doctor that would take me. Not sure if that is just those particular offices policies or common practice even. Just thought I would put that out there in case you planned on waiting to go to the doctors.

Best of luck and congrats again! =)
I had a hard time finding a doc when I moved mid pregnancy. Nobody wanted to take someone after 20 weeks. Congrats on your new baby!
