Many LV residents have lived a good portion of their lives elsewhere. To those who have moved to Vegas after years elsewhere, how would you compare healthcare options in Vegas to those elsewhere. Please include where you lived previously. I'm particularly curious how those who have come from a place with abundant health providers (central NJ in my caes) view healthcare options in Vegas. Thanks all.

I have heard horror stories, online, BUT I have heard very noteworthy PRAISE from both my neighbors, people I have been working with, and now I am reading Las Vegas has a new industry, MEDICAL TOURISM, where people from other STATES and other COUNTRIES are coming here for Certain types of surgeries.

I've posted on other threads about this but I have no issues with the state of healthcare here. My mother and son have been to the hospital where they have received immediate and professional care.

In addition to the TERRIBLE SCHOOLS, Vegas has terrible medical services. My parents retired to Vegas only to move back to CA for the medical services. The doctors in Vegas are substandard.

I volunteer at a free clinic here in Las Vegas. We are trying to offer free health car to those in need.

Here is the website so you can see how to qualify.

I think it's wrong to assume that every doctor in Las Vegas is substandard. You have an excellent doctor of physical medicine headed your way. He will be employed by an HCA facility.

i think it's way below standard also.....about 3 months ago, i had kidney stones and went to urgent care (luckily i passed them).. they did a CT scan and found a nodule in my lung which has a chance to be cancerous....They told me to see my primary care physician right away(Dr. Molina in Centennial Hills)...Her answer was since I don't smoke, there is no need for a second look... Horrible... never had an HMO before also. And yes i finally switched docs which goes into effect Aug 1st... I have nothing but praise for the urgent care (near Mountain View) and nothing good to say about Molina.

Helpful feedback thus far and thank you. One thing I wonder about as I search for new doctors in Vegas, including a few specialists, is the longevity factor. The city is more transient than some and I wonder how many of you have had a doctor you liked move away from Vegas. Has this happened to anyone and if so, more than once? Did you have trouble finding another doctor? I ask because two colleagues told me separately about losing valued doctors. It happens everywhere, of course, but I'm wondering if there is more mobility among doctors in Vegas than elsewhere.

Hadn't heard about this...I'll have to read up on the trend. That would seem a very positive state of affairs regarding healthcare in the Vegas area.
