I will be attending CES 2012 next January and this will be my first time. I've been to Vegas countless times and know it fairly well. However, as far as huge conventions go I have never attended one like this.

So, I wanted to come here and ask if I could get some helpful tips as to make my experience go a little smoother. I am looking for things such as what to pack around with me and what to pack? Just things like that.

January is cold and you'll be outside the convention center traveling to / from on the shuttles every casino has, so a sportcoat, light jacket, whatever.

Business casual is more comfortable all day than a suit. You'll be walking a lot, so comfortable shoes. Might save the suit for a meeting if you have one planned.

Other than that nothing special. I've gone the last 4 years.

Don't forget to pack your leopard print shirt for the AVN convention (the real reason everyone comes to CES).

Not this year. They moved the AVN back a week so its not the same week as CES. I think its the same time as SHOT Show.

Bring a GOOD comfortable Back pack, by the time your halfway thru the show floor, you have enough swag to drag...

Bring a pocketful of business cards, almost every table has a fishbowl, and a prize.

the food in these venues are pretty poor, bring some trail mix, some protein bars, breath mints
water you can get everywhere, but the food stuffs is harder.

Book your hotel in advance, the rates get crazier the closer to CES you get.
