Hello and far in advance, thank you. I've tried to do my own due diligence but I'm turning to you for help..

I am in an interesting spot right now in life and it seems like God has a plan for me to move to Vegas. Things are just lining up that way. I was let go at work, and at the same time offered a position in Vegas by chance. I've always been attracted to Vegas.. I see myself as a desert rat I'm 23 and want to at least live there for a year.

Anyway here is my dilemma. My girlfriend needs to keep her student visa, and we were thinking she could just go to a language school out there, or a community college that offers cosmetology. I'm not racist, but it would be more comfortable if the language school had some asian people too (she's asian) and not in a largely hispanic community.

We are looking for an apartment, townhouse or 1 bd home for 450/mo or less, somewhere in that range.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking?

I see craigslist but does anyone have a good idea of the area and where one might look for homes which meet the following conditions?:

1) Close to an English language school
2) Close to a bus route
3) around 450/mo., though a bit more isnt a problem if the other conditions are met
4) A semi-asian influenced area

Also, how much do you spend on utilities per month?
Especially running the A/C most of the day and night.

Thank you!!

Spring Valley has a big Asian (Chinese) (Thai) population, you may be able to find something there, you pay pay a TOUCH more for rent, but you will definitely be near public transportation and decently close to the strip. (10-15 mins)

Language schools.. I cant help you with, I'm From Brooklyn, NY where English is considered a second language

$450 per month for an apartment for you and your girlfriend is not realistic price range. You can barely rent a bedroom in a shared house for that amount.
Think about $600 and up.

We just finished our search for a one year rental and never encountered anything below $600 in an area that is basically decent. Given New Jersey rental rates of $1500 for a 2 bedroom apartment, we were thrilled with our 2 bed/2bath condo in Lone Mountain area for under 800/month. Add utilities you are looking at 1000+ per month. Again, that is for a 2bedroom.
