I went to the DMV to get a Residential ID, I told the person I spend a average of 2 weeks a month in Vegas, and was told I do not qualify.

Even though I own a house <?>

what is the rule for a 'local' ID?

Jonathan

LOL You're kidding, right?
You spend a total of two months in LV and you think you should have a Resident's ID card, that allows you to vote in local elections? Your LV house is not your "primary residence" - that is the qualifier. Florida ran into that problem with its "snowbirds" that owned houses up Nawth and in Florida - and who would traverse back and forth, voting in both places. "Vote Early - And Often!" is supposed to be a joke, not a mantra.

For what other reason would you need a Resident ID card? It's not like you need it to cash checks in that tourist-oriented town...

OP stated 2 weeks a month.

Which I believe would add up to 6 months a year, not 2 months SCGranny.

So, maybe then, he is justified in getting ID.

I myself, was in similar situation

...just sayin'

Assuming he spends half of his time here, most of the shows on the strip give steep discounts to locals that can present ID......

I don't spend as much time there as you and I have a seasonal ID.

I have been here for over 2 years now and still dont see a benefit to getting a local ID. My Georgia DL and military ID is good enough for me. I also own a home(primary residence) and soon to be part of my HOA committee. Sometimes its a hassle when I get stopped by the police though. Some dont understand that I dont have to have a NV ID while active duty.
