Thanks everyone. I have been waiting to move to Nevada for 30 years and I finally get to do it! WOOHOO!! LOL When I got the Henderson map and pinned it on my office wall, friends who would stop by marveled at how big it is. Everything is relative I guess. To us it looks large, but to people from Chicago, New York etc it probably looks tiny. I was raised in CA and then spent the past 20 years in Nashville. I remember what daily sunshine was like and I miss it. I know lots of people talk about the importance of having four seasons, but for me, year-round sunshine is the best way to live. I can have four seasons by cooking seasonally popular dinners. HA!

No, graphic design school to become a graphic artist/designer. We have connections here in Nashville where he will be able to start a small client base and build from there, while living in Las Vegas. You don't have to live in the same town as the client when you are a graphic designer. He will be designing logos, hopefully CD covers, etc etc.

I do software development remotely, and my wife does graphic design. She has clients in Vegas, NY, NJ, MD, etc. It's doable, but freelance can be tough no matter where you are.

It will indeed. But due to life's circumstances he has no choice but to open his own business. So it is what it is and I hope as long as he works on developing a graphic design business alongside a vending machine business (which is his second goal) he should be able to make enough to pay the bills. What kind of graphic design does your wife do?

She does web-design and mobile-app (iPhone, Android) design, focusing more on overall layout, UI, and flow, rather than specific graphic elements (which she'll sometimes contract out to have done, if a client needs a really slick icon or logo, or something specific like that).

If your son does graphic design for software products, I'd recommend he try and team up with a programmer. That's essentially what my wife and I do for a number of clients, and it works out pretty well.
