I'm curious. In light of the current economy, have you noticed a significant reduction of tourists? Less traffic? Cheaper prices? What's going on?

Thanks

still seems busy to me, prices for rooms are way down.. about 80% occupancy during the week (normally about 88%).. anywhere else 80% is phenomenal !

There is a noticeable slowdown. It is noticeable if you have your eyes open. Restaurants are less crowded, stores are less crowded, the airport is less crowded, etc...

I was in one of the local casinos around 10PM on Tuesday night. It was dead. Granted, that is normally a slow time, but still, I've never seen that many empty tables and slot machines. It was noticeably quiet.

In light of the slowdown, I have not really experienced any price reductions. I still payed 15 bucks the other night for a glass of wine at Mandalay Bay.

Depends on what you mean by prices. Hotel price? Back in December the Venetian was offering $119 for weekdays and $139 weekends and that included $50 a night in slot play plus $50 in drinks at LAVO. When you got there we got 5 more coupons for free drinks. This was not an offer based on play, anyone could have had it. I just saw Gold Coast at $25 a night. Monte Carlo seems to be static at $69 a night. TI for $79. So, yes, I think rates have dropped dramatically.

I still remember all of my December trips (2000-2006), and getting rooms from $10-$40 per night (Orleans,Stratosphere,Stardust,Tropicana,Monte Carlo,Golden Nugget,LVC).The rates still seem high considering the economy.

The automation involved is pretty sharp. The may lose a little money but they lose the minimum practical.

Anything in the price range quoted was pretty much a comp...

Rates at the hotels, restaurants, and golf courses have dropped. I get e-mail specials for all the hotels; however, Olecapt is correct on the occupancy. My vacation club clients are still between 85-100 percent, in fact I had to fill an emergency restock request earlier this week because they realized that having full product means increased revenue and profit.

After years of growth and stability, owners and management now are forced to be creative in getting and retaining clients.
