I have been a resident here 16 years, so no, I am not naive. I have noticed all these foot spas opening up on every corner lately. What goes on in these places? lol,,,I am thinking they are for men with foot fetishes? Do you get happy ending foot rubs here? What is the deal?!? Please, tell me your experiences if you have been to one. I am very curious. Thank you

If you mean the foot reflexology places, I've been to the one in Chinatown a couple of times. I got a foot rub ...that's all.

If you mean the pedicure shops, they are a good place to get an infection that could cripple you, but tell that to my wife. She goes to them all the time.

All are run by Asians that I believe are mostly Vietnamese. The state got on the manicure/pedicure places recently about sanitizing the equipment, etc., but they can't watch them 24 hours, so buyer beware.

They shut down three reflexology places last year that were hinting at offering more than a foot rub, taking $500-$1500 from tourists, then ejecting them with the use of bouncers. Most tourists weren't willing to call the police and report that they solicited illegal prostitution and got ripped off.

I go to a salon where they use disposable soaking basins for your feet. I am afraid of catching someone's foot fungus. I don't trust they are disinfecting properly between clients. Also, the nail tech I go to uses sealed sterilized utensils on each client.

Where is this? I am hesitant about eating in any Asian restaurant...they aren't the cleanest. (I once saw a pot of soup on the stove that was directly beneath a dripping vent) But I can't find any salons that AREN'T owned and run by Asians.

I go to a salon that is a co-op in El Paso, TX. My nail techinician was born and raised in El Paso. There are a bazillion nail salons owned by Vietnamese people in EL Paso. I used to go to one Vietnamese owner who was excellent. She would actually schedule my appointments vs walk in. She left and I started looking for a salon where I could get personalized attention. I found Diana. She is awesome, she knows how to give a great foot massage.

in Nevada, there is an exception to the massage laws for reflexology. reflexology does not require a massage license. only a county or city license.

some foot spas are clip joints, as posted by Danknee.
some are legit, and a detailed review of what is included can be found on Yelp.

even though reflexology is technically limited to the hands, feet and ears, the legit
places focus much of their work there, but tend to do a mini-massage on the shoulders
and back over the clothes.

imo, any place that advertises their staff as beautiful, sensuous, or attractive, OR is open 24/7,
OR has anything in their ad that even remotely hints at a happy ending, is off my list.

if it looks like a duck, and acts like a duck, and walks like a duck, it's probably a duck.
