Moving from the midwest... wondering what to wear on interviews for administrative/secretarial positions... my gut reaction is that dark suits that might be professional and appropriate in the midwest may be over the top when it's 110 degrees outside... or should I just stick with a suit?

I would say as long as you dress professionally, you should be fine. A suit isn't really necessary. Employers take the temp in consideration. Just don't show up wearing beach sandals! You may also want to consider where your going to be parking prior to the interview. You can be "drenched" in sweat from having to get inside from where you may have to park. Not all businesses have covered parking. If nothing else, consider taking deodorant with you and step into a restroom just prior to going into the office.
Good luck!!

Just be sure to make it low-cut on the top...and high-cut on the bottom. you'll do just fine.

You would wear the same thing for a job interview in Las Vegas as you would wear in Podunk, Iowa. The temp won't be 110º for a couple of months yet, but it doesn't matter anyway. Just put the coat on as you get out of the car, and go inside. We do have A/C ya know. BTW, wool suits are cool in summer and warm in winter in Las Vegas, as elsewhere. I know. I wore them for years. BTW again, It's probably more uncomfortable where you live to wear a suit in summer than it is here where we have no humidity. Also, BTW, NO humidity doesn't mean LOW humidity, it means NONE, NADA, ZIp ...well maybe 8%, but not 80%, ever.

When my company flew me in for my interview, I wore my best suit and tie. I was surprised to find everyone else in the office was dressed in shorts and tee shirts, but I got the job and have never regretted my choice for my interview outfit.

Here it is 8 years later, and as I sit here in my shorts and tee shirt, I am still impressed and pleased to see prospective employees show up for their interviews looking their very best.

I guess it's just a matter of respect. Looking good always make a great first impression.

Best of Luck to you!

It used to referred to here in Las Vegas as "Class". People in the casino business were, and probably still are, I just don't talk to many of them these days, very conscious of their appearances, right down to men always having a fresh manicure. It's one thing we can thank the Mafia for ...the concept of having "Class". You either got or you ain't.
