I'm living at the Palms at Peccole Ranch, it is a bit further west on Charleston than some of your other options. It is between Hualapai and Fort Apache.

It fits your criteria to a T though. I think 2 bed/2 bath is $800 a month, includes washer dryer, it is pet friendly (I have my dog here with me), has covered parking and garages available. Everyone seems pretty friendly when I'm out walking my dog, and the entire complex is pretty well kept and landscaped. There are three pools, once it gets hotter I'm sure more people will be out using them. The staff is friendly and they are in the office 7 days a week.

On a small downside, my car was broken into last night, but this would probably happen at any of the complexes. My car had a dvd/nav device installed in the center console, otherwise they probably wouldn't have broken in. Also, they now have a security guard patrolling around all day, and he is still parked out there right now at 2AM. Maybe he thinks he is going to catch the thieves coming back for more!

I was hoping to get into the Vista Del Rey's but alas, they no long accept pets. Then I checked out the Desert Shadows, and what a ruse they're running there! They had a supposed special on their $900+ apts. for $799. They had two avail. at that price, but of course they both opened onto super busy Charleston Blvd, mere feet away - and by the time you paid for things that are usually included at other complex's rent (water, garbage, and other monthly fees) the actual rent was back up to $890+ No real savings there, for a really noisy apt.

Next I was going to check out some apts. near the campus, but there were cops out front, a guy sitting on the curb and another back on the steps, so I just kept on driving (Torrey Lane, or something like that?).

Finally, I ended up submitting an application at Eleven11 - Hopefully I'll get that one. It's quite a bit further out than I wanted to be, but the rent was cheaper, they took pets, and the apt. was bigger than most of the others, and it was very quiet while I was there - much more so than any of the other places I looked at. Hopefully it will alll work out - Thanks everyone for your input! You helped me out immensely!

Aren't you glad you have us here to help you? I wish I would have had help like this when we first moved out here. (jan.2000) Back then, I was scared to death of moving here, but after we ended up in The Lakes, 89117, all was well. That's the zip code you will end up in if you get that apt at Eleven11.
Isn't it funny that it's cheaper to go to a nicer area and nicer more spacious apt than right by the college? I wonder if they jack up the rent in those places for college students. And they are not worth the extra fee's with what you get there.
Was the street Torrey Pines? Lots of issues with the police in that area as you saw today.

I hope you get the apt.

It's a decent area and only around 3 miles to the Charleston Campus of CSN. Very convenient location to shopping, dining, bars, parks and a couple of casinos. You will like the area if you get the apt. Goodluck!!

Stay in touch and let us know how it is after a month or so. And how you like working at the college.
