I was going about 32 miles/hr in a street posted at 35m/hr. I made a left turn and suddenly a cop pull me over. He told me I was speeding over a school zone, which is 15 m/hr. Don't get me wrong, I am a careful driver, not some kind of reckless driving. But darn it, I did not see any sign that I was approaching the school zone. And there were no kids any where. I ticket is for 555 including the admin fee. Stupid. I think the cop try to get up with the quota he need for this month. That's ridiculous!
Also I am seeking help with traffic lawyer, since I lived in San Jose, California. Any advise would be highly appreciated!

From the point of your turn until you were pulled over, how many speed limit signs did you see posted ?

Go back to the area. Start from where you turned. Bring a camera if need be. If no sign was visible ( from your turn ) perhaps the judge will give you a reduction in your ticket.

The fact remains ( unknown to you at the time ) that you were in a school speed zone. Not saying speeding in that zone should not be punished but you came from a side street. You did not knowingly speed through the zone.

Speeding in a school zone is harsh on points/insurance?

I don't know much but I once tried to fight the system. I don't really recommend anyone do that. It cost me more money and grief then had I just paid it.

The judge prolly reduce it to a lesser charge if you have a good driving record.
