OK Serious though...the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and city cops have guns. Plus, one or two trickle over the border here and there. But, as a whole, it's not a common thing to ever see or even know someone with a gun.
I thought in Canada rifles/shotguns were allowed, but not hand guns.

Yes, rifles are allowed for hunting purposes and such. But, it is VERY strict and regulated....so many rules just to transport it in your car to the range / hunting grounds, etc.

Hand guns is what I'm referring to. The general carrying a gun in your glove compartment / on your person is what we lack.

And, we definately don't have a place like the "Gun Store", which appears to be some sort of "Six Flags" for firearms

The Gun Store is actually a very small store, with a range in the back. I've never used their range, but I would guess that it's also pretty small with few lanes. It's nowhere near a "'Six Flags' for firearms," nor is it even one of the better gun stores in the valley. They spend a ton of money on advertising, that's all.

If you want to see what a real gun store looks like when you're in town, visit Discount Firearms on Highland, south of Sahara. You can also rent a fully automatic rifle ("machine gun") there, too, and based on what people have said in this thread, it's a LOT cheaper.

The Gun Store is fairly close to the strip and has some interesting fully automatic guns to shoot. That is the attract. I shot there once when a business partner took me there as an entertainment expense. It was a lot of fun.

I would have to agree that you might be better off looking into other gun ranges if you are not confined to areas near the strip. The Gun Store can get very crowded with tourists. There really isn't too much unique about The Gun Store that you can't do at most other gun ranges in the US.

Has anyone been to the Gun Store to rent / shoot guns? How was the experience? And, are there steps involved (taking a class first) or do you just show up, pay and fire away??

Thanks!
You have gun stores all over Canada.

Here is a gun store that is probably right down the street from your friends in Toronto:
Forest Hill Revolver Club - Gun Club located in Toronto

"Forest Hill Revolver Club has provided recreational handgun shooting since 1940".

I believe Canada is #2 in the developed world for guns right after the United States.

American Shooters Supply & Gun Club off Spring Mt & Arville offers the same thing for a better price. Nicer range, and more knowledgeable staff.
