Default Typing Course

I would highly recommend getting a CD Rom called 'Typing Tutor' 7 by Simon and Schuster. This version is what I used to learn how to type at +50Wpm within a very short time having never typed before. I had also bought other CD's but this one is clearly the best as it has an on screen Keyboard so you get in the habit right away of not looking at your fingers. I wouldn't recommend getting any other version and I think it might still be available on Amazon.

I think it's easier with the cd. You can work at your own pace.

I took the traditional classroom course when I was very young.

I had to take a keyboarding class a while back, did it through a votech college (different state but basically like going to CSN) and it was all CD/computer based and basically self-paced (within the 15 wk semester). CSN has a class but it can also be done with a regular program you purchase to learn typing.

They probably have something in the continuing ed department at CSN or she can take the for-credit class. It is called COT 101 - Computer Keyboarding

You could find many typing programs for free on the internet. Only thing and instructor might help with is by telling her where to start her fingers at.

That could be found online for free as well though.

only advantage a class has is it might make a person feel more obligated to learn because she is enrolled in a class. Might be a great way to meet people, would only cost about 250 at the most.

My wife says I'm the fastest two finger typist she knows. Of course nobody would hire me as a secretary.

Besides...you can't (or, more likely, won't) take dictation!
