Hello Friends,

For the first time me & my wife will be visiting Vegas on Christmas Holidays. I will be there for 2-3 days. I will highly appreciate if you guys can recommend some good casinos to see in the night time & places to see during the day time.

Also, what areas to avoid in terms of safety & crime?

Looking forward to your reply.

Happy Christmas & Happy Holidays

Where are you staying?

What do you want to do at night? Gamble? Go clubbing? See shows?

What do you want to do during the day? Gamble? See the casino-related sites? Take in non-casino/natural attractions?

If we know what you want to be doing, we can give you much better advice.

As for the areas to avoid, just stick to the touristy areas while on foot and you'll be fine. Unless you're playing craps at Bellagio...

Stick to the strip. You cannot do justice to a third of the strip in three days. Maybe make one half day excurusion to Downtown.

Wander aimlessly mostly. It is good for the soul. Drink a little too much...but not a lot too much. Eat a little too much but not a lot too much. Hit the Bellagio Caesar's Palace and the Forum shops. Have lunch or dinner at Mon Ami Gabi if it is not freezing. Sit outside. Wynn and Encore...Mandalay Bay. See the silly Gondolas at Adelson's shop. Get a real view of the strip from the Top of the World at the Stratosphere. That takes care of three days.

Ohh and you got to at least walk through the Cosmo...our latest hint of sin joint.

Catch a show or two...O, Mystere..any of the Cirque shows...except Chris Angel. Terry Fator. Penn and Teller. Hit a nightclub at least once...unless you are an old foogy then pass. If you like good food hit one or two of the gourmet places.

Stay in the tourist places. Three days is not long enough to consider the outside world unless you are a true tree hugger.

Don't sweat crime. Only our casinos are allowed to rob tourists.

Lastly....just for the fun of it...walk into the Bellagio with a full face motorcycle helmet on. Guaranteed....you'll get a welcoming that you'll never forget!

If both of you are into arts. Aria, Cosmopolitan and the City Center are places you should not miss, a great destination in the heart of the Strip. Lots of public art pieces all around. You will not be disappointed. Great really, Vegas is growing and definitely improving!!!

I agree with Olecapt. Wander the Strip aimlessly, go in any hotel that strikes your fancy! You are quite safe on the Las Vegas Strip, just use common sense as you would anywhere else, men secure your wallet, ladies secure your purse, etc..

The Las Vegas Strip at nighttime, surely a sight to behold and experience. An assault to the senses!

At night, The Sirens of TI (at the TI), Bellagio Fountains, the Volcano at The Mirage (near valet), head for the Rio and watch the Masquerade Show in the sky. All great free things to see at night.

During the day, go inside Caesar's, see the both living statues show (Caesar and the Greek Gods), see the wonderful Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the MGM Lion Habitat, go in the Bellagio Conservatory and also see the lobby ceiling there as well(all crystal glass), walk the Forum Shops at Caesars, the Grand Canal Shoppes in the Venetian, the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Yeah. What he said. There's plenty of free entertainment going on all around you when you just walk around. To see the great outdoors you'll need more time, or a local to take you places. But you could spend a whole day within a block of the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd alone and be entertained to death for free. Same thing near Spring Mountain Rd and LVBL.

Sorry, but I suppose I have O/CD or something and can't shut up. But I just have to protest the use of "Me and my wife" in a sentence. It's "My wife and I will be...", since you wouldn't say "Me will be ...."!!!
