See, I don't get that Willy....my friends in NY are constantly hassling me with "it's so hot there in the summer, it's 110*+ all the time". It's not actually. It's above 110 for about 3-4 weeks and that's it. 100's out here feel like 85 and humid to me...just like back home. I'll take 3-4 weeks of that, over 4-5 months of cold, rainy, slushy, sleet, snow and gray clouds any day. I know Denver is a tad different though, as it can be 55* one day and a blizzard rolls through the next..my cousin lives in Lakewood. A couple days of being inside to avoid extreme heat, is a heck of a lot better than spending 4-5 months inside because it's too nasty to drive anywhere, or it's so cold that your previously runny nose is now frozen shut.

JFK, gotcha...sounds like a peaceful little abode your have there. IF, and that's a mighty big IF, I were to ever move back to NYS, I'd move around the Finger Lakes region. Very serene and home to some great wineries!

NYS can be very beautiful...when one stays away from the crowded areas.

I must admit, I agree with you. I would take the stable home prices over the weather. I bought my home in 2002 for 170,000. Have exact homes on my block starting at 65,000 to 95,000. This will probably take 10 years or more for my property to come back to the starting point. Oh well, welcome to life.

Thanks Mad Man high here in Plattsburgh NY tomorrow is suppose to be 19 degrees. Snow all week for us. Keep the torture up make me cry! I still have another 2 years to get to Vegas to live. My golf clubs are crying right now another 5 months before they come out again. So tomorrow morning as I scrape the ice and snow off my vehicle to go to work I will keep saying there is hope and this will end some day lol. Enjoy the weather and keep us updated on the fun things your doing.

NYS is just starting to raise everthing. Everyone is laughing at the smokers well wait till you get yours on everthing else. I can not wait to get out of NYS I will never be able to retire here. NYS is trying to screw over the native americans and will spend more money trying to do that than they would collect in taxes. How ironic NYS does not complain about the tax free gas they sell OOPS! don't mess with the oil companies lol. Land and school taxes gave gone crazy and all fees and licenses (Taxes) have increased and will increase more. Las vegas here I come

Well it all depends. I lived in Vegas for 10 years so yes it doesn't get to 110, but I say 110 because that was the temperature when I'd start feeling really hot. I don't think most people would say 85 and humid feel anything like 105 and dry, but I get the point both can be uncomfortable. While you can go outside on 105 days, you still don't really want to do anything outside so you could argue its 4-5 months of having your activities restricted as well.

I think we should all just say its personal preference for everyone. Some people can't take 35 degree weather, I find it feels great. Some people told me they felt great when it was 114 and lived for that weather. To each his own.

Default Re:

@Willy, oh no doubt. I'm only a 2 year old Vegas resident, so I'm still somewhat "loving" if you will, the heat and that smiley is the best way to describe it when it does go over 110*. I'm forced to play doubleheader softball games from February - October every week, with maybe a 3 week break mid-summer, so that's the only real time I dislike the extreme heat. I love the warm nights though...and the very best part...no mosquitos cuz I think those buggers would explode! lol

but there is a reason that JFK's home has appraised well... It's the only one in the neighborhood.... Supply and demand.....

kind of like Eddie's property in Vegas Vacation but a nicer home...

It was nice this past Saturday, just right for the festival at the Lakes. Car show, entertainment, food and a sunny day outdoors. Great!!!

My sympathies.

Just curious...what year did you buy your house?
