What are folks' experience with Roku or Apple tv and Netflix? I was reading this morning about some problems in other parts of the country. I kinda don't want to buy cox cable or use the dish since we don't live in Las Vegas just yet, but it would be nice for my hubby to be able to watch something when we're there. Thanks!

we have had netflix for a couple years, i don't really use it. my kids sure do though. the mailing location for us is las vegas, turnover is super quick. in the summer i change our plan to 3 out at time and there is so much content available - movies and tv shows - online for netflix. oh, but you have to be on cable for that? maybe that wireless service. and if you just want to watch movies, try the red box. $1 each on every other corner.

I have netflix and we use it a lot. Just got the Roku box, and I really like it. It works really well with high speed internet from Cox. You have to get some kind of internet connection in order to use the Roku. Browse the Netflix "watch instantly" offerings to see if they have enough films of interest to you to make the Roku worth it. You can get a Roku for $59. It's easy to hook up.

We've had Netflix for a long time and they are fast, but they've gotten expensive. We found movies were sitting around not being watched, so we cut back to their lowest deal. We tend to DVR a lot of TV shows, and it takes a while to watch them all. We hardly ever watch TV in real time anymore. My granddaughter asked me the other day why we were watching the commercials. She thought we could just FF through them. She doesn't understand the concept of live TV.

We are going to ask Santa for the Apple TV thingamabob.

Netflix is great.. I only watch the instant to tv movies though.. 8 bucks a month... You can get the very limited basic for around 15 bucks a month and then when you are there, upgrade, when you leave downgrade.. personally i think cox sucks so i have dish network, but choices are somewhat limited in vegas especially for internet

Buy a PS3, get a membership with Netflix and they will send you a free disc for the PS3. I love it, I have Roku as well for the other TV, but PS3 is much better.

or a Wii (they will send you a disc)

or a XBOX 360 (but you need xbox live - no disc)

or some blu-ray players have wireless also..

Ruku is the cheapest and easiest way for Netflix on a TV at $59 including remote.
Unless you were going to buy a game console and Blu-Ray player anyway, the PS3 is pricey at $299. Don't forget you also need to add the cost of buying a special remote control or a special adapter to make a PS3 work with a universal remote or it will be that much more clunky and complicated to use as a media player.

If you want a dead simple and cheap Netflix player, Roku is best.

I just set up Roku for my grandmother today. Took all of 10 minutes, it has wireless capability and was under $60 I believe. I personally use my PS3 for netflix and canceled my bogus plan with cox long ago. Top it off with my antennae and I have plenty of entertainment.

Is it better than the Apple TV?
