Hi Everyone,

I am considering purchasing a condo at the Residence at Canyon Gate. I am a teacher in Louisiana, and I am interested in something as a summer home and then eventually a place to retire. Can anyone give me any details or comments about the condos and/or the area? Also looked at a few places in Green Valley as well. Any comments or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you very much

Don't know about the condos, but I live across the street from Canyon Gate, and I love the area. Safe, lots of amenities nearby, and pretty. I have posted lots of pics of my neighborhood and the surrounding area on the picture thread, so those might give you an idea of what the area is like. Green Valley is nice too. I have lived there too, and although I liked it, I like where I live now better. Both areas are very nice and offer pretty much the same stuff, but I love the beautiful red mountains on the west side of town. Whatever you decide, good luck!

THank you very much.

Do you know about any of the condo communities in your area? I was just in Vegas in early June and drove around both areas. I really enjoyed the area around Canyon Gate, but was curious about the crime. On spotcrime.com I noticed that there seemed to be a fair amount of robberies and burglaries.

Don't know about the condo communities. I live in an apartment, and overall feel pretty safe in the area. I have heard about burglaries though, so we usually just leave a light and/or the tv on when we aren't home so that our place doesn't look like the easiest target.

Canyon Gate is a 20 year old apartment complex converted in 2005/6 to condos. I would expect problems with the systems over the next years.

The premier example of how bad it could get. These places now sell as low as 25% of their original price.

It is a great location and a pretty nice site inside. Minor nuisance crime but basically a very safe area.

It is guard gated and has an HOA fee up around $250.

All sales are cash. Probably not going to be possible to finance in there for some years if ever.

The good news is the price and the location. Every thing else is bad.

Default You dont wanna buy at Canyon Gate

Lousiana Dale, you do not want to buy fron this property. The association is 250.00 or more per month. and if you buy a foreclosure, you have to for 9 months of back association, when you didnt live there. The place is a ghetto, alot of section 8. And you have dodge drunk drivers in the parking lot ( a resident decided to get drunk and hit 2 cars), I would consider this property before buying. What a dump!!!!!!
