A few state jobs. I personally know of one entry level position that pays upwards of $38.5K a year with amazing benefits.

There are absolutely jobs out there. Just because one may not want to work these particular jobs does not mean they don't exist, and the attempt to rationalize sitting at home on one's butt and complaining falls flat. Minimum wage is now $8.50. When I first moved to Vegas I was a concrete laborer. Extremely difficult work and I was making $8 an hour. Now you can flip burgers and make more.

Granted, the economy is a mess right now and I'm not sure that it's getting better anytime soon either. However, it seems to me that those that complain the loudest are those that are perpetuating the damage via strategic defaults or extended unemployment benefits (because they can make more on UE than they can if they actually get a lower level job). The fact is that the days of making $80K a year with no actual skillset (other than waiting tables or serving drinks) is over. The free market has spoken.
Thats a good range of jobs also. From Plumbers to Psychiatric Nurses.
Also looked on Craigslist and saw over 100+ jobs posted for today alone. Even saw a bus driver/bartender job on there. Someone made a thread yesterday about looking for a bus driving job.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Not saying that state budgets are all peachy, but CA is a completely different animal. Not to mention that CA government jobs, both state and municipalities, are hardly paying minimum wage. Starting salary for a cop in SF is upwards of $80K. That is the entry level salary.

As far as your buddy's pension goes, I would have more faith in that than something like SS. That said, I have no idea what AZ's budget looks like and have not seen their balance sheets or projections. I believe that you may be a bit of an alarmist and you may be projecting your fears though, and this is coming from someone that has a month worth of food stockpiled as well as a bug out bag and a back up plan for my back up plan.

Some job seekers tell 8 News NOW that they're looking to get a job so they can make enough money to move out of Las Vegas.

Odds Not Good for Finding Las Vegas Jobs - KLAS-TV Channel 8 News Las Vegas
I just got back from Vegas last month and as a long-time Nevadan ,I can say that I have never seen it as bad as it is now.

The only hope for Las Vegas is that the economy will turn around in the next 2-3 years. If not, then there will be a mass exodus that will cripple the city for the foreseeable future.

I think alot of states should be kicking us back some money for the casino industry employing these charity welfare cases that could not get jobs in their own state.
