I am wondering if due to the low/no humidity, if there are less bugs in Las Vegas than on the humid, more muggy east coast?

I say this because when I visited Las Vegas last October, I don't really recall seeing any at all. Also didn't see any when I visited my daughter in San Diego. No flies, mosquitoes or anythng! Just curious.

Also, I seemed to have to use the restroom, if you will pardon me, more often. Thought maybe this may be due to drinking more in response to the climate and thus, "going" more. I apologize, but don't really know any other way to put it!

When I lived there, my place had roaches in it. Lots and lots of roaches. My place was a dump however, with a lot of drugs and transient to crazy people, and it is not there anymore.

No mosquitoes that I saw. There are flies, flies live in the desert or almost anywhere warm. A small, yet hearty beast.

A tourist or gambler who does not tip is called a "flea". I learned this being a casino dealer in Mississippi. I used to call them "flea dogs" to give it a twang.

We got over run in the spring with a cousin of the water bug

The complex we are in has lousy pest control and when they were active they were actually flushing them INTO the apartment.
I have some knowledge and was able to control them .. it took me 5 days of spraying and a gallon of chemicals ..

Las Vegas is overrun with roaches. Other than that, it's pretty good, bug-wise.

Comparing the bugs in LV with the bugs along the east coast is like comparing a bucket of water with Lake Michigan.

Very few SPECIES of bugs when compared to humid parts of the country.

As others have said there are flies and roaches.

LOTS of those tiny sugar ants.

Fire ants

Bees/ wasps/ hornets

No mosquitos/ no fleas.

Few species of spiders but of those that are able to survive the climate there are many.

There are mormon crickets...was a HUGE surge of them several years back and it was crazy.

Most people use pest control due to the ants, roaches, and black widows...I don't endorse the use of pesticides but the results are typically effective.

The roaches are not just in ghetto neighborhoods they are everywhere, its just a fact of living in the city.

In the year and a half we've lived here we've only ever seen roaches, crickets, and black widows. Roaches being the most common wherever you go. Even nice clean places can have roaches, you just need to make sure and spray well and they'll stay out of your house.

LOL! They don't set well with me either, but I have a morbid curiosity therefore, I read them and get goosebumps!

Actually, though, FAR less bugs there than in MI! BY FAR! Except the roaches. And like the others say, you spray and you should be fine unless you have dumpy neighbors....

Let me break it to you all gently..

All warm climate places where people live are roach friendly. There are no exceptions.

All not warm climates where people live have roaches. But they reduce the population in the hard winter. The worst roaches I have seen anywhere was in NYC.

It is the simplest thing in the world in Las Vegas to control roaches. No water. If you don't irrigate you will have none.

If you add water to the desert roaches grow.

Now can be stop causing Kimba to quiver?

And just to sum up. Bugs in Vegas are not an issue unless you live in a place with very bad hygiene.
