Great news! IKEA will build a furniture factory and showroom in Dandridge. Construction will begin in late October and will bring over 150 jobs to the area. Fabulous news!

That IS wonderful news!
Wow, between Volkswagen in Chatt, Ikea in Jefferson, Kingsport being named one of the top 3 cities in the country having an economic boom (per Wall Street Journal)......this region is doing good! Man I LOVE living here.

Will that showroom be a full store? I've outgrown the whole-house-in-Ikea stage but they do have some neat stuff.

Are you serious?

I REALLY need some furniture! And the jobs are going to be welcome! We are really doing well, considering how bad the economy is right now.

Furniture supplier for Ikea building factory in Dandridge

I love IKEA. I was there a lot when I lived in Pittsburgh.

Holy Cow!!! I *LOVE* Ikea but there isn't one for hours and hours... I hope the 'showroom' equals 'Ikea store,' ... cause ... yeah ... I love Ikea!

*hopes that Ikea factory in east TN will spur growth of Ikea stores in Knoxville and Johnson City*

I actually drove to Atlanta a couple of years ago to shop the Ikea here. They had some book shelf brackets that I really wanted and they wouldn't ship them.
That was in the days cheaper gas, though.
When I lived in Maryland, I shopped it a lot.

Reading the press release, it sounds like it's just a factory that makes furniture that IKEA sells, and not an IKEA store. The furniture factory will have a showroom though.
