Well, you all will laugh, but this is what I do:
When the car in front of you passes a landmark, such as a sign, you count "one-a- thousand, two-a-thousand," etc. How long you count correlates with the speed limit. If the speed limit is 40 mph, you count to "four-a-thousand" just as you get to the sign.
I bet that was as clear as mud.
And yes, I am anal and neurotic.
