Somehow, I doubt that a DAR member will have promotion of a socialist, populist, or even liberal agenda anywhere near the top of their list of priorities.

LOL.

What does that even mean? I would have to ask....do you know any DAR members? Have you ever been to one of their meetings?

I thought not.

Yes, this is hilarious! The first member honored as a Daughter of the American Revolution was from New Jersey. First memorial erected was in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I can trace my roots back to the American Revolution, and before, but I never joined. If your family was part of the Boston Tea Party, have family that participated in the American Revolution, for instance, you would qualify. That is a lot of people from the northeast where I bet this person thinks there is a socialist revolution brewing!

And the Daughters of the Confederacy was brought up by someone that hails from Michigan!

I'm from Yorba Linda! I am sooooo ready to leave. I was almost driven off the road today because of some complete jerk! We are meeting with a realtor tonight and moving ASAP!

I just got back from visiting Knoxville with my husband where I got to see relatives that I haven't seen in forever! Everyone there is so friendly. I had an interview and nailed it. They are even helping with moving costs and some money to help get us settled. Start my new job around March. My husband had an interview in Oakridge that went pretty well too. We are looking forward to what is to come

I'm part of the First Families of Tennessee! One of my ancestors is Frederick Emert. There is a bridge for him: Emerts Cove Covered Bridge.

I swear East TN people are some of the friendliest people on earth I kid you not, the only downsized to moving to TN is the wages for jobs suck but the cost of living is not that high so it balances it out. I love TN my girlfriend is from the state and I think its a great place to live so I am moving from Kentucky to TN this summer. Good Luck in your search and welcome to TN.

Default For what it is worth...

Jessica, I too am eligible for DAR. I did not know for years I had ancestors who were buried in the Knoxville area. The county library is a treasure trove of records.

If you don't already know you can find Trader Joe's, too!

You will enjoy it. Yes it gets cold (This year especially) and no there are no beaches, but it has a great deal to recommend it. I lived in Fullerton as a kid, so I know where you are coming from. Yorba Linda was a nice area but now crowded and hectic compared to anything here. Even Knoxville is not a big deal to drive in.

The weather should be better for moving in then, so good timing.

When we listed our home in CA (2009) it sold in 1 week, with two offers and above what I would have listed it at as the realtor said list higher. Many people want to move to CA for the weather, but they do not know what else they have to deal with there. TN is not perfect either, but you will like it. Welcome.
