But the guy said he could start the week after next which is when his current job ends so he really wouldn't have a gap in pay. Unless he gets something great this week I don't see how he could NOT take it. We have 3 kids to feed...KWIM? which is something else we've had to revisit since we have been trying for a baby for over a year now...now we need to wait and get everything settled here first. Anyway, yeah, I work fulltime--actually I work a min of 50 hrs per week and then I also volunteer admin full time, I am picking up some more hours but I am pretty much beat.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I really don't mean to sound like I am ungrateful, I know we are lucky when so many are struggling for a job period. I think my issue is more that I have so much pride in my DH and know he is worth more than he is being offered. I think this guy knows DH needs the job too.
Mystic, is there any chance to negotiate a higher salary, even after 90 days....just a thought....

Actually, yes! He said Shane would start out at said rate, and then he would most likely be moved up. the techs that this guy has working for him are making about $3-4 more an hour than shane is now so the potential is there but the guy keeps going back and forth on when Shane could expect to see the increase. Our thought is that this guy will run him into the ground in the summertime (he was talking 80-90 hrs per week!) at the really low pay and THEN maybe give him an increase--which from a business standpoint makes sense, but stinks for DH, KWIM?

And SMG--I didn't take it the wrong way I just had re-read my own post and thought I almost sounded ungrateful and I don't want anyone to think that.

I am so used to having DH around all the time, and I know with this job and my schedule, we would rarely see each other! Which is a concern, but just another curveball life has thrown at us. My marriage is strong and I know we will get through whatever we need to, I just am really worried about not being able to provide for my kids. My boys are my world, and they deserve the best.

That being said, I just finished doing an assessment for a 2nd job-I am supposed to have a phone interview on Wed evening. If I were to get this job, it would be another I could do from home-as long as they don't want me to work conflicting schedules...it would be a major help for us. I am trying to stay positive and be cheery

My husband has had three jobs where they started him off with low pay and all raised it within a few weeks and the raises were substantial. I would take it.

Mercury definitely is in retrograde. Horrible week. And I had most of it off.

Today starts my new work week. I sure hope it gets better.

Good morning everyone!

Mystic--I've been in your situation and I think I know the feeling of all 'those thoughts' racing through your mind. No, I don't think you are ungrateful--just trying to reroute your plans with less resources, that's all. Here's another thought--the old saying 'it's always easier to find a job when you have a job.'
So maybe look as this one as a bridge to the next without an interruption in the flow of the river. The best to you and your family.

SMG--Sorry to hear of your health setback. Hope those warm snuggly blankets are making that lung feel a whole lot better!

SMG, hope today finds you feeling better, just stay warm and rest!

Going with friends Sat over to Cherokee and the Casino, should be a fun trip as our friends have never been there and one of them has never been to a Casino, now this shall be interesting, just wish we were going to a better casino for his first, like in Tunica, but he will see the main idea of it all and see how fast money goes

Take care everyone and enjoy whats left of your weekend.

Sweating over here....threw some logs in the woodstove, took a nap on the couch and woke up wringing wet..... Mrs.B lets me come in the cabin at night....she's afraid I might roam after dark and get into trouble.....

No decision yet, he got another offer over the weekend. The man who did KnoxvilleMommies' holiday float for the parade just offered him a job with his construction company. they are meeting here at the house tomorrow night to talk about it. Still a pay cut, but I don't think he could work for a better boss....and WAY less drive time, so we'll see what happens! I'll keep ya posted!

On another note, anyone ever go to the Dogwood Festival Parade? (I think that's the name of it) We have the opportunity to participate in it and I am wondering how big it is for the entry fee that they want ($50) Thanks ya'll!

Sure she's smart, that's why she married me....we've been married 2 years longer that dirt.....

Just a few sprinkles, but enough to put a damper on going to get firewood without 4 wheel drive....

Naps are good.....

Mystic....Karma for you and the DH....
