I will be moving to Knoxville next month to the West Knox area, but working downtown. I need suggestions for good doctors, if someone knows of some really good ones.

I will be looking for an Internal Medicine doc (preferably a D.O.), Endocrinologist, Chiropractor, Optometrist, Dermatologist, and Dentist. I have Blue Cross insurance. Is that accepted by most physicians?

Also, I will be looking for a REALLY GOOD Massage Therapist and a great Hair Stylist that is very experienced with curly hair.

I can't wait to move to Knoxville, but dread having to find good, quality individuals to put my life in their hands. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!!!

I highly recommend Dr. Michael Allee as an eye doctor. Bright, fun, nice, listens. The staff is wonderful. Great selection of glasses. I am sure he has a website but I can't seem to find it. He's on Western, just to the west of I-640. In other words, easily accessible and safe.

Dr. Matthew Doppelt - Derm
IM? Not aware of any office based DO's that I know are good, but I'm sure they are out there...search the Summit Medical Group Website.
Don't do DC's so i don't know them
My Dentist and Optometrist were both in Fountain City so that likely wouldn't be helpful.
I'd have to work on the Endocrinologist...just can't remember the name off hand, but he's excellent.

Doppelt is a great Derm....and the best part is you actually see HIM, not some PA or NP like you will at a lot of other Derm offices.

For those looking for a Family Doc, I'll hopefully be there in a few years.

I would add that if the OP would want a good DO FP doc, I would go with Charlie Robinson.

Good MD? My wife had luck with Jessica Ivey.

Most of the folks I know are hospital based.

St. Mary's Hospital has a physician referral program that works over the phone. You call them, tell them your insurance company, and what part of town you prefer, and they give you the docs you need. I don't have the # but you could probably find it in a search engine

Porter at Aveda in Turkey Creek gives a great cut.

And if you're looking for a doctor in Farragut we really like Jason Collins. He's easy to talk to, willing to listen, and at the perfect mix of young enough to be innovative and old enough to know better.

I recommend Dr. Michael Carlson at Summit Medical Group at Dean Hill. Very caring and will spend time with you and answer all of your questions.

This is a name I know and have heard good things about. Not a person I'm personally familiar with, but word of mouth in my circles was good during my time in Knoxville.
