I'm being offered a temp job, probably only 3 weeks, but a chance to work in my field of finance/documentation and who knows, maybe a foot in the door somewhere? What I want to know is how this will affect my unemployment benefits. I file in Missouri and don't want to lose my benefits since this is a short-term job. But with the job market as it is, I don't want to miss the chance to maybe get a job in my field or even get another good reference to use in my search. Can anyone tell me how I handle this? I can't seem to find an answer on the MO Unemployment website. Thanks for any help!

I beleive it is dependent on the pay, but I am unsure of the details like how much. I hope someone else can help more.

Just don't claim while you are working the temp job and if it doesn't work out, you should be able to jump back on unemployment for the remainder of your benefits. So long as you don’t take a permanent job and then you get fired rather than being laid off or something, you should be fine. I just wouldn’t claim anything while you are working. That just makes things confusing. It’s easy to re-open your claim.

I was on unemployment when I got back from Iraq. But I was still in the guard so I had to drill once a month. All I would do is claim the amount of income I got from the military and they would deduct that from my unemployment check.
