Good Morning,

We have been here since Tuesday (Overland Park, KS) First of all let me tell you all that both sides of the border are beautiful. So far besides the extremely polite people we have been to The Crown Center, Union Station, WWI Museum, Worlds of Fun, The Argosy, Country Club Plaza, and several others. We will be leaving Sunday morning for the drive back to San Antonio.
I envy all the rain you have had plus the cooler temps since we have been over 100 for the past weeks.

Again I Thank You for a great visit and all of your suggestions.

Hello kcmo -We stayed with my Stepson who lives in an apartment complex in the area of Metcalf and 135th Street.

It was great to see everything so green and all the grass mowed. I was sure impressed. I found the fact that there are no street signage/ billboards for businesses in the Overland Park area a little odd. It gave the area a residential feel. Is that a City Ordinance or does it have to due to the weather conditions? (winds, etc) Signs pollute San Antonio like crazy.

I mean no disrespect but we did eat at Jackstack near Downton Kansas City MO. and it was not as good as I thought it would be. I usually find that the best eateries are Hole in the Wall looking places. We enjoyed Worlds of Fun. It reminded me of a Theme Park we visited 15 plus years ago outside of Oklahoma City. I rode rides that I never had since I've always been scared. *I did not ride the Large Steel Roller Coaster or the Wooden Coaster. We were on a great vacation so I thought what the heck. I was even asked to go onstage at the parks Rock n Roll show and sang parts of "I Got You Babe". The Argosy is a beautiful Casino putting several Las Vegas ones to shame. I never knew that penny slots could be so much fun. The Kansas City Royals Tour was great. It's been 30 years since I had been to a Pro Ball Park (Los Angeles Dodgers). Its too bad the Royals were out of town during our stay. The Crown Center was impressive as was Union Station. I would have loved to have seen Union Station years ago. There were lots of fantastic photos though. We enjoyed the Hallmark Visitors Center. I felt like a 48 year old kid when I pressed that red button and made a bow, well bows. I can't think of the area but we drove to a High Dollar area of Kansas City KS. with streets of shops. It reminded me of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I think it is called Country Club Plaza. I was impressed with all the tall apartment buildings in the area. We visited the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. I have been to the US Mint and I found the Reserve Bank just as enjoyable. They had a Coin Collection on display which was from the Harry Truman Presidential Library. Seeing that $400,000.00 Gold Bar was something else. On Sat. I woke up sick (the apartment was a little too cold) but everyone else went to The Arabia and they all enjoyed it. The man who found the ship was there and he sounds like a super great person.

I would have to say the most impressive place I visited was the WWI Museum. I learned so much about the War. The displays were up to par with The Smithsonian if not better. Everything you wanted to know about the War was right there. We spent so much time there we didn't see it all. I have been on the internet several times since then reading about the War. I wished I would have purchased one of their books. I'm considering calling the Gift Shop to see if I can buy one from them and have it sent to San Antonio.
Everyone that we came in contact with was especially polite.

I sincerely mean this. You have two top notch Cities that should be destinations for everyone. I'll be glad when we return.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. They helped us to have a better trip.

Then we returned to Hot,(38 Days over 100 this year) Drought Stricken, Parched, San Antonio TX.

I don't know if there are actual city ordinances in Overland Park regarding billboards, but the area does pride itself on looking nice and clean. It is primarily residential/suburban but there are some nice office parks and campuses like the Sprint campus and Corporate Woods. (It can actually be a little tough to find the right building in Corporate Woods due to the lack of signage, but it is a lovely office park.) These of course aren't tourist attractions though

And lest we take undue credit, the Country Club Plaza is on the Missouri side of the line. But it is a very nice area for shopping, restaurants, etc. On the KS side, Town Center Plaza has tried to rival it and has many of the same or similar shops and restaurants but there is just no matching the charm of the original Plaza!

Glad you enjoyed your visit!
