Recently moved into a home and looking to get the popcorn ceiling removed. The catch? Lab results came back positive for asbestos. Anyone here know of a good company in the KC area that can handle asbestos for residental? Having a differcult time finding anyone.

Why not paint over it?

eddie, painting over it does not remove it, which is what the OP wants to do.

OP - hopefully a moderator can move this to the KC board, where you will get useful responses.

Just throwing out other less costly options in order to understand the OP's reasoning. A Magic Trowel can allow one to paint over texture with drywall compound and that can often hide much of the texture. Being a public message board, opening up some form of discussion can help others now and in the future who may be facing the same dilemma. There's also the question of has this popcorn ceiling been painted over in the past? If so, covering with 1/4" drywall instead of removing may be the better option.
