Pretty vague don't you think? Metro KC probably has 100 plus high schools and I doubt you could classify any single one as the best without looking at specific variables that a person might want and even then, you would probably have more than one.

Tough to compare the private schools to the public schools.

Private - Pembroke or Rockhurst/Notre Dame di Sion
Public - Blue Valley for KS, Lees Summit for MO.

KCK's Sumner and KC's Lincoln Prep (which isn't included) are consistently rated much, much higher than any of the other public schools listed. For the record.

St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park just received the National Blue Ribbon Award, I think Blue Valley High did as well. Not sure about schools in Missouri.

Don't know how I missed KC Lincoln High. The site I used to aggregate the metro schools with >500 students in 9th-12th grades appears to be missing it as well. Southwest High also absent, but it of course has closed, and I believe Westport High now convenes in the old SW High building.

Voted for Sumner, but I agree that Sumner and Lincoln prep are the best high schools in the metro. Sumner out shines all the school in the metro though. Number one school in Kansas and Kansas City metro constantly in the top 100 high school nationwide with national ranking of 69. Lincoln prep is the third best school in Missouri and the second best in the metro with a national ranking of 254. Both are excellent school and it is more great high schools in, but those are the top two

You're missing Staley High School which is kind of key being that it is state of the art and has won all kinds of awards since opening.
